Karim Benzema has left Al-Hilal six months after joining, a year before a deal running to June 2027 was due to expire. The 2022 Ballon d'Or winner is now without a club.

At 38, the former France striker, capped 97 times with 37 goals and an ambassador for the Saudi league until 2030, is not planning to retire and has offers to continue, including from MLS or another Saudi club, AS reports.

Al-Hilal and Benzema agreed to part by mutual consent, with the club praising his professionalism, commitment and leadership on and off the pitch.

Benzema said a chapter had closed, expressed gratitude to his team-mates, staff, supporters and everyone at the club, and wished Al-Hilal the best for the future.

During his short spell he won the Saudi King’s Cup and scored nine goals in 13 appearances.
