Keeper faces Corinthians again, backs club in Copa das Campeãs

Corinthians hosted Fluminense last Friday night (20th) at the Neo Química Arena, in a match valid for the second round of the first phase of the Brazilian Women's Championship, and ended in a 2 x 2 draw. The match marked the reunion of goalkeeper Kemelli, now with the Rio team, with Timão, and she spoke about the feeling of returning to the stadium in Itaquera.

“It's always special to be here. Everyone knows about my affection for Corinthians, especially for the Fiel, but I needed this new cycle, I needed more experience, more games, even because I'm young and also, who knows, I might aim for a national team, why not? But it was very special, it ended in a draw, no one is sad, everyone leaves happy”, she began in an interview in the mixed zone.

Kemelli also commented on Corinthians' participation in the Copa das Campeãs and revealed that she was rooting for her former teammates. The goalkeeper did not deny that she would have liked to compete in the tournament, but reiterated that her cycle at the club had ended and that she needed more minutes on the field.

“Who wouldn't want to be there in London, right? Surely my support was for them, especially for Brazilian football itself, they represented very well, I had no doubt they would do great. But as I said, cycles end, and I needed this experience, Corinthians always had good goalkeepers, and it's difficult to put everyone to play, and I knew I could give a little more. My affection and support will always be for them, but when I face them I will have to give my all, and that's what I did today, and I hope to continue like this”, she pointed out.

Revealed by Fluminense itself and having played for Criciúma, Kemelli played for five seasons at Corinthians, accumulating 57 matches and seven titles. During her contract, she was loaned to Cruzeiro in the 2023 season.
