Bild reports that Jürgen Klopp plans to call up Elversberg all-rounder Keidel to Germany’s extended UEFA Nations League squad, having decided to name two groups for the upcoming fixtures.
Keidel recently scored a stunning free-kick in a 4-3 comeback win away at struggling Borussia Mönchengladbach. Elversberg, debutants at this level, opened with back-to-back victories before a narrow defeat to FC Bayern.
Converted from full-back, Keidel featured as both right-back and left-back during the promotion season. He has started all three games this term as a defensive midfielder.
Before joining Elversberg last summer, the 23-year-old spent two and a half seasons in 3. Liga with Ingolstadt. He has never represented Germany at any age group.
Klopp is likely to call up to 40 players for matches against the Netherlands, Greece, home and away, and Serbia.
