Klopp delivers verdict on Germany debut after late Netherlands equaliser | OneFootball

Germany came painfully close to securing a win in Jürgen Klopp’s first match as head coach, but ultimately had to settle for a 1-1 draw against the Netherlands after Cody Gakpo scored a late equaliser.

Speaking after the game (via Focus.de), Klopp expressed his satisfaction with what he saw from his players, particularly their mentality, but also admitted there is room for improvement.

“I’ve stood on the touchline more than 1,000 times, so I know the position and that hasn’t changed,” Klopp said.

“I was very, very, very pleased with a lot of the individual performances. Overall, I was very happy with the passion we showed. We can play better and play more football, that’s for sure.

“We created work for ourselves, which meant we had to run and put in the effort – it was demanding for both teams. I would have really loved to win, but I’m happy enough with the point.”

Klopp and Germany will be back in action on Sunday when they face Greece.
