Klopp is counting on Bischof: Bayern youngster set for DFB nomination | OneFootball

Tom Bischof appears to be on the verge of returning to the German national team. Jürgen Klopp is planning to include the Bayern pro in his roster for the upcoming Nations League matches.

Tom Bischof apparently has good reason to hope for a call-up to the German national team. According to information from Sky, national team coach Jürgen Klopp plans to call up the 21-year-old FC Bayern midfielder to his squad for the upcoming Nations League matches.

According to the report, Bischof is set to get his chance, provided nothing unforeseen happens before the squad is announced. For the captain of the German U21 team, this would mark a return to the senior national team.

Bischof already has one international appearance under his belt. He made his debut on June 8, 2025, under then-national team coach Julian Nagelsmann. In the 0-2 loss to France in the Nations League third-place match, the midfielder came on as a substitute for Leon Goretzka in the second half. He has not played for the national team since then.

Bischof Eyes Second International Appearance for Germany

Under Klopp, that could now change. Germany will first face the Netherlands on the road on September 24. Three days later, they’ll host Greece. In early October, they’ll also face Serbia on October 1 and Greece again on October 4.

At FC Bayern, Bischof is currently fighting for playing time. In the 4-1 DFB Cup win against VfL Osnabrück, Bischof made a name for himself with a goal in his first competitive start of the season. Most recently, he was given another chance to start in the 2-1 win against SV Elversberg, but his performance was much less noticeable.

In central midfield, it’s currently very difficult for Bischof to get past Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovic. That makes additional playing time on the international stage all the more valuable for his development.

With the German U21 team, Bischof has long been one of the leaders and wears the captain’s armband. Now it seems Klopp also wants to rely on the Bayern youngster. Following his debut last year, Bischof could make his second senior international appearance in just a few days.
