The Ecuador international is vital to Chelsea, and has scored five goals in 35 appearances in all competitions this season.

The 24-year-old started all 38 league games last season, and Rosenior believes Caicedo is one of the best midfielders in the world.

However, in recent weeks the Ecuadorian’s form has dipped slightly and a few mistakes have started to creep into his game.

Caicedo gave away a penalty against Leeds which kickstarted their unlikely comeback, a mistake which Rosenior described as a poor decision.

As with all players it’s natural to go through a dip in form, but Law has suggested talks over a new contract could potentially be having an impact.

“Does Caicedo want a new contract? Because we know that Chelsea have gotten very high on a list of people who deserve a bump,” he told  The London Is Blue Podcast.

“Is that playing on his mind? Are talks going on in the background? I don’t know. I’m speculating.

“But that has been known to impact players’ form in the past.”

It’s been reported Chelsea want to offer Caicedo a new deal, and he even changed his representatives last year.
