Arijon Ibrahimovic is one of the standout performers in Bayern Munich’s preseason so far. After his loan stint with 1. FC Heidenheim, the attacking player returned to Munich this summer and now hopes to establish himself permanently on the first team. Vincent Kompany is specifically focused on the 20-year-old’s development.

Just a few weeks ago, Ibrahimovic was considered a potential transfer candidate. Since then, however, the outlook has changed significantly. Club officials are planning to use the attacking player as a versatile option for several positions in the attack. The 20-year-old is expected to take on an important backup role, particularly on the left side of the attack.

Ibrahimovic has already made a name for himself on several occasions during preseason. Coach Vincent Kompany is working intensively with the talented forward and is trying to further develop his specific strengths.

Ibrahimovic was particularly impressed by an individual training session with his coach.

“It was really cool that he approached me and gave me a personalized finishing drill. Specifically, it was about sharpening my focus when finishing,” the forward explained on FC Bayern’s official website.

The 20-year-old is also satisfied with how the preseason has gone so far: “It’s been very intense, but that’s part of preseason training. A few more guys joined us last week, and now we’re just going to keep going the same way. We have some good friendly matches coming up, and then the season will start again soon.”

Ibrahimovic describes his loan to Heidenheim as an important step in his development. Above all, the experience of fighting relegation in the Bundesliga helped him mature both athletically and mentally.

Ibrahimovic wants to get as many minutes of playing time as possible

Looking ahead to the new season, the forward has set ambitious goals. He doesn’t want to settle for a supporting role but aims to get as many minutes on the field as possible.

“I want to get as many minutes as possible—whether in the Bundesliga, the DFB Cup, or the Champions League. And I want to win as many titles as possible with FC Bayern,” Ibrahimovic emphasized.

His versatility works to his advantage here. The 20-year-old is comfortable playing in several attacking positions, which increases his chances of regular playing time under Kompany.

With the professional squad deliberately kept small, more homegrown and young players are set to get their chance this season anyway. Ibrahimovic is among the candidates who could benefit from this approach. If he can build on the positive impressions he made during preseason, he should establish himself as a solid option in Bayern’s offense as the season progresses.
