TV revenue revealed! FC Bayern tops the Bundesliga rankings | OneFootball

FC Bayern is considered to be in excellent financial health and one of the most financially powerful clubs. And all of this without a wealthy sheikh in the background to plug any financial gaps. 

The record champion has once again set new standards. Financially, based on several key metrics, the club ranks among the absolute best in the world; it’s one of the three clubs with the highest revenue, surpassed only by FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. 

This is even more interesting when you consider that, compared to the absolute “big players” in international soccer, FC Bayern receives relatively little in TV revenue.

TV Revenue: Bayern Leads the Way in Germany

If you look at the distribution of TV revenue, it becomes clear: In Germany, FC Bayern is number one. In total, the record champion earns 92.681 million euros. FC Bayern is followed by Bayer 04 Leverkusen, which earns 84.267 million euros. BVB ranks third with 84.244 million euros.

Next in line are Eintracht Frankfurt, RB Leipzig, SC Freiburg, and VfB Stuttgart. Bringing up the rear is SV Elversberg, with total revenue of just over 30 million euros.

TV revenue is distributed according to the so-called “four-pillar model.” Revenue is distributed equally, though performance in various competitions also plays a role. A small portion of the funds is allocated based on youth development, and another small portion is based on fan interest in the clubs.

Unsurprisingly, FC Bayern performs very well by German standards, but a team newly promoted to the English Premier League, for example, receives more TV revenue than the record champion. That is why the DFL is also interested in finding ever more sources of revenue and ensuring that more funds are available to be distributed among the individual clubs.
