Teun Koopmeiners has struggled for form and relevance since joining Juventus, after the Bianconeri splashed the cash to add him to their squad in the summer of 2024.

That summer, he won the Europa League with Atalanta and proved to be one of the best players in Serie A, so Juve spent heavily to sign him as they continued their rebuild.

The men at the Allianz Stadium were convinced they had signed one of the best players on the continent when he joined them, but they have continued to wait for the version of the Dutchman they saw at Atalanta.

Koopmeiners has struggled, and Juventus wanted to sell him during each of the last two transfer windows. However, he managed to remain at the club and could now become a key player for them.

Koopmeiners Could Start More Matches

Injuries in midfield mean Koopmeiners could start Juventus’ next matches, according to a report on Corriere dello Sport. When he has come off the bench for Juve in recent matches, the midfielder has performed well.

The report says Koopmeiners will now get more opportunities to play, with the Bianconeri believing he can perform well for them during this campaign.

His recent performances from the bench could give him an important opportunity to rebuild his confidence and demonstrate why Juventus invested so heavily in him. The midfield injuries have created a chance for the Dutchman to play a greater role.

Juventus Could Still Look To Sell

However, this does not necessarily mean Juventus have changed their long-term plans for Koopmeiners. The Bianconeri could still look to sell him next season if he manages to return to his best form.

Juve would then hope to cash in on the midfielder after his value improves through stronger performances. For now, though, the focus will be on making the most of his availability while injuries continue to affect the midfield.

Koopmeiners now has an opportunity to change the perception surrounding his time at Juventus. If he can rediscover his Atalanta form, he could become an important player for the Bianconeri before the club makes a decision on his future.
