Kortrijk have announced that Mark Mampassi has returned to the club for another season on loan from Lokomotiv Moscow. This time, the deal includes a purchase option. The 21-year-old recently made his international debut for the Congo and will be back in Kortrijk after an impressive spell during the 2023/2024 Pro League season.

Mampassi, who had represented Ukraine at youth level but was also eligible to represent Russia, broke through with Ukrainian side Mariupol during the 2021/2022 season. He then made a controversial move to join Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia. After making 21 appearances for the side he moved on loan to Kortrijk last September. The side were embroiled in a relegation battle all season but Mampassi did help sure up the defence when Freyr Alexandersson took over the club in February. The central defender made 30 appearances for the side, including starting in both of the legs of the relegation play-off against Lommel.

Kortrijk have already been far more active in the transfer window this year and appear to be able to rely on Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan for financial support once more.
