English defender Kyle Walker-Peters has agreed to join West Ham United on a three-year deal, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 28-year-old will now be moving to the London Stadium club to join West Ham after his deal to move to Besiktas fell through.
Talks have progressed very quickly between Walker-Peters and the Hammers and formal steps are now set to take place for him to complete the move.
West Ham manager Graham Potter wants to bolster his defence, and the former Tottenham Hotspur star fits the bill given his experience and wealth of experience.
The two-cap England international is a free agent after leaving Southampton at the end of last season, and he will be joining the Hammers for free as his Premier League career continues.
Walker-Peters has played 148 English top-flight games for Spurs and the Saints, and his ability to play at both left-back and right-back will come in handy at West Ham.
Besiktas announced that they withdrew their offer to sign the soon-to-be Hammers player after he asked to delay travelling to Istanbul to complete a medical, and it appears remaining in England was more appealing to him after the London Stadium club indicated an interest in recruiting his services.
The likes of Everton and Galatasaray were linked with Walker-Peters in January, but it is West Ham who have emerged successful in the race having come close to signing him last summer.
They have signed Senegalese defender El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague, Jean-Clair Todibo has signed permanently after his successful loan spell last term while youth striker Daniel Cummings has joined from Celtic.
Walker-Peters could be next from the look of things, but more quality additions are needed if West Ham are to challenge for a top-seven finish next term after an underwhelming 2024-25 campaign.
