Kylian Mbappé missed France’s Tuesday training at the Clairefontaine national football centre in Yvelines because of a flu-like illness. According to Le Progres, the captain stayed in bed and the length of his absence is not known.

France face Türkiye on Friday, the first match of Zinédine Zidane’s tenure as head coach.

On Tuesday afternoon, Mbappé’s 22 team-mates met French supporters, signing autographs and posing for photos before an open session.

The staff, led by assistant David Bettoni and Fabien Barthez, had arrived a few minutes earlier. Zidane waited until the warm-up had begun and the crowd had taken their seats at the Pibarot pitch before joining the group, so as not to upstage his players.

Beyond the trip to Türkiye, three Nations League fixtures are scheduled in this first camp of the Zidane era, a second visit to Belgium on 28 September, then home games against Italy and Belgium on two and five October at the Stade de France.
