Villarreal have been handed a compressed schedule, with LaLiga confirming kick-off times for matchdays five, six and seven. The run features Betis at La Cerámica on Monday 14 September and three matches in seven days before a three-week international break, a new feature this season.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the announcement arrived on Sunday afternoon, less than two weeks before matchday five, leaving fans, journalists and staff little time to arrange travel and logistics.

They will have slightly more rest after the previous Tuesday's Champions League opener against Borussia Dortmund. Iñigo Pérez's side start the final week before the break at home to Real Betis at 21.00, a direct meeting between European hopefuls with pupils already back at school.

Three days later they travel to Málaga for a 21.30 kick-off at La Rosaleda. It will be their fourth away league fixture and another chance to claim a first win away from Vila-real.

With minimal recovery time, they close the week against Levante at La Cerámica on Sunday at 18.30, a fresh regional derby.

Their next outing is scheduled for the weekend of 11 October at the Santiago Bernabéu.
