Last-minute departure possible: Boey will be a test for Bayern

Sacha Boey is finally on the sidelines at FC Bayern. What had already been foreshadowed in recent weeks is now taking on clear contours. The 25-year-old Frenchman is considered a candidate for sale – and not just recently. Sports director Max Eberl had recently made no secret of the fact that a solution was being sought for the right-back. The decisive factor, however, is that even coach Vincent Kompany, long a supporter of Boey, no longer sees any use for him

According to information from kicker, internal issues in particular play a role here. Boey is said to have repeatedly behaved in an undisciplined manner, which ultimately led to Kompany initially discarding the Frenchman. The loss of trust weighs heavily – especially under a coach who places great value on discipline, reliability and team structure

Interest from England and France

However, Boey is not completely without a market. As kicker has learned from abroad, several clubs are interested in the Bayern defender’s situation. Everton FC, Olympique Lyon and Olympique Marseille, among others, are keeping a close eye on developments surrounding the Frenchman. It is quite possible that one of these clubs will make a serious move in the coming days

However, there are clear conditions attached to their interest. One topic that is repeatedly mentioned on the market is Boey’s salary, which is considered to be generous in relation to his current sporting situation – a factor that makes potential buyers hesitate. Clubs such as Lyon and Marseille in particular have to calculate very carefully, while Everton are in a stronger financial position but also do not want to take any risks

Months without match practice – an additional risk

To make matters worse, Boey has not played a competitive game since November. Kompany initially sidelined him for sporting reasons, before a persistent stomach bug put him out of action. This has kept the Frenchman out of action to this day

Max Eberl recently confirmed that Boey had lost a significant amount of weight during this time and would first have to build up his body again. This is a further uncertainty factor for interested clubs. A player without match practice, who is not yet at one hundred percent physically and at the same time has high salary demands, represents a not inconsiderable risk

Kompany has finished internally

Particularly explosive: the decision seems to have already been made within FC Bayern. Kompany, who still supported Boey at the beginning of his tenure, has apparently drawn a clear line internally. The Frenchman no longer plays a role in the current planning – neither in the short term nor in the long term. The recurring personnel problems in the right-back position do not change this

This means that time is running out against Boey. Eleven days remain for the parties involved to find a solution. If the right-back cannot be found in this transfer window, there is the threat of a month-long hanging game with no sporting prospects. For a player of his age, that would be a bitter step backwards

FC Bayern, on the other hand, are faced with a classic transfer task: selling a player who has clearly been sorted out on market terms without being under pressure to make a move themselves. Whether Everton, Lyon or Marseille will take this step – or whether Boey’s salary and fitness will cause the deal to fall through – will be decided in the coming days.
