St Johnstone lost Cheick Diabaté to a second yellow and dismissal in the 53rd minute. Alić responded by taking on set-piece responsibility and wider attacking duty as the hosts reshaped with ten men.

Soon after, his whipped dead-ball delivery picked out Zach Mitchell, whose header slid just wide (57.). The left-back then went himself from distance, forcing Scott Bain to tip away a low strike (69.).
