Latest Jackson update from Christian Falk promises difficult decisions for Chelsea

Nicolas Jackson’s move to Bayern Munich was one of the bigger dramas of the summer at Chelsea, and as we predicted at the time, it’s far from over.

His deadline day move to Bayern Munich did go through in the end, but as a loan it’s far from conclusive for the striker’s future. Before, during and after the move was done he made it clear he had little desire to return to Chelsea – but if the German giants don’t buy him, that’s exactly what he will have to do, at least in the short term.

The latest update on the affair comes from Christian Falk, the well connected Bundesliga insider. He says that Jackson will not leave Bayern in January – the very fact that’s been suggested shows things aren’t going well. He’s got 4 Bundesliga starts and a further 4 appearances from the bench.

“The German champions paid a loan fee of £14.3m, and they have an obligation to pay £56.2m to sign him permanently; for that, Jackson has to start 40 games for Bayern to trigger the clause,” Falk writes.

“Bayern have no intention at the moment to trigger Jackson’s buying option. However, the former Villarreal striker is still expected to stay until the end of the season.”

Chelsea can potentially negotiate a sale to Bayern or a different club at a lower fee – but that may also prove difficult. Prepare yourselves for another long year of Jackson stories.
