Chelsea are having their UEFA mandated open training session this morning ahead of their trip to Naples tomorrow, and there are a few things to note.

Romeo Lavia returns to Chelsea training.
There are two players in the mix who are still touch and go for tomorrow’s game. Cole Palmer’s injury status has been a real mystery of late – manager Liam Rosenior told us that the midfielder trained on Friday, but he then didn’t feature in the squad for Sunday’s game against Crystal Palace.
He’s back today though – hopefully that means he did more sessions on Saturday and Monday and should be available for sub minutes at the very least tomorrow. Even when he had a run of playing in recent months his form was poor and he looked frustrated by his own level. Perhaps being eased back into action is what he needs mentally as well as physically.
Palmer isn’t the only return to action this week. Incredibly, midfielder Romeo Lavia also featured in training, after his latest long and mysterious injury absence. We really wouldn’t expect the Belgian to be in the actual squad for a while – he will need a lot of training time to recover his sharpness after so long out.
Joao Pedro was picked ahead of Estevao for the team of the week in the Premier League this week after he racked up some solid numbers. He’s done his case for starting serious good.
Chelsea face a really tough test away in Italy tomorrow night – but they do have some advantages coming into the game. Napoli are missing so many players injured, and the Blues should be at close to full strength. We will find out more when Liam Rosenior takes his press conference tonight.
