Lazio are making significant progress in their quest to sign Giovanni Fabbian from Bologna and Daniel Maldini from Atalanta.
The Aquile are making up for their summer inactivity by going full throttle since the opening of the January transfer window. They have already sold Taty Castellanos to West Ham United, while RB Salzburg’s Petar Ratkov is expected to arrive as a replacement. Moreover, Matteo Guendouzi is on the verge of finalizing a move to Fenerbahce, but should remain at Formello until the end of the week.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio are looking to replace the departing French midfielder with Fabbian, and they have already made an opening bid worth €12-13 million. They also offered €10 million for Maldini.
Lazio’s interest in the Italian duo has also been confirmed by several other sources, including the reliable Damiano Er Faina. The journalist believes Bologna are holding out for slightly higher figures, as the two clubs continue to work on an agreement for Fabbian.
Moreover, Er Faina believes that Atalanta are inclined to accept the Biancocelesti’s offer for Maldini following their Serie A contest against Bologna on Wednesday. The 24-year-old is an AC Milan youth product who hhas ad stints at Spezia, Empoli, and Monza but has been unable to carve out a starting role in Bergamo since his arrival last winter.

Lazio sporting director Angelo Fabiani is a fan of the versatile attacker, who could become Mattia Zaccagni’s understudy at Lazio, even though Maurizio Sarri has been pitching Lorenzo Insigne for this role since the summer.
For his part, Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà warns Lazio about possible competition for Maldini. He also reveals that Bologna are working on signing Jacopo Fazzini from Fiorentina, which should theoretically pave the way for Fabbian’s exit.
All three sources also agree on Lazio’s interest in coveted Ferencvaros midfielder Alex Toth, but the negotiations for the 20-year-old aren’t as advanced as in the cases of the two Italian internationals.
