Nicolò Rovella has undergone surgery on a fractured collar bone, with Lazio confirming the midfielder was injured during Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Cagliari.
The four-time Italy international was withdrawn after 59 minutes at the Unipol Domus, with the issue later confirmed as a clavicle fracture.
The club said in a statement that Rovella underwent surgery on Monday for the reduction and osteosynthesis of a fracture to his right collar bone, sustained in Cagliari. It added the operation was perfectly successful and he will start a specific rehabilitation programme in the coming days under medical supervision.
Rovella will begin a personalised recovery plan in the coming days, and a return to first-team action could be around two months away.
If that timeline holds, he is likely to miss upcoming fixtures against Torino, Atalanta in the Coppa Italia, Sassuolo, Milan, Bologna, Parma, Fiorentina and Napoli.
