Lazio stars Mattia Zaccagni and Toma Basic have each been slapped with a different ban after receiving red cards against Parma.
The captain got his marching orders for what was deemed to be a nasty high-studs challenge on Nahuel Estevez just before half-time. In the 77th minute, Basic was involved in a tussle with the same Parma player, and he reacted with what was considered a ‘violent act’.

Despite being reduced to nine men, the Biancocelesti miraculously snatched a winner through Tijjani Noslin. However, the two red cards will return to haunt them in their upcoming fixtures, at a time when Maurizio Sarri is already operating with limited options in attack and in midfield.
As Il Messaggero reports, Zaccagni will serve a one-match ban, which will rule him out of Saturday’s home fixture against Cremonese. On the other hand, the sports judge decided to suspend Basic for two fixtures and fined him €10,000, which is considered the minimum punishment for ‘violent conduct’. The Croatian midfielder was indicted by the fourth official’s report, which read the following:
[Basic] hit his opponent in the side, with his forearm and with a closed fist, while the ball was not within playing distance.
In addition to the Cremonese contest, the 29-year-old will also be unavailable for Lazio’s final game of 2025, which will take place in Udine on December 27. Sarri will most likely resort to Matias Vecino to fill in midfield, as Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is away on international duty after being called up by Nigeria for the African Cup of Nations.
