Lazio end Polymarket shirt deal by mutual consent after Italy ruling | OneFootball

Lazio have terminated their €19m Polymarket shirt sponsorship by mutual consent after the website was ruled illegal in Italy. The club said in a statement that the partnership could not continue under the new regulatory measures.

The Aquile went through last season without a shirt sponsor, the only Serie A side with no main jersey partner.

The agreement, signed in April 2026, was due to run for two seasons with an option for the 2028-29 campaign.

Italian law imposes strict limits on advertising public gambling, and Polymarket lost an appeal to be classified as a prediction market. The Customs and Monopolies Agency, ADM, deemed it a betting site and blocked access from Italy.

As a result, Lazio considered it impossible to keep Polymarket on the front of the shirt. Under the settlement, Polymarket will pay the full amount due for the 2026/27 sporting season.

Despite the termination, the parties maintain mutual respect and intend to continue institutional dialogue. Any future partnership would be considered only if the regulatory framework allows.
