Lazio trio Alessio Romagnoli, Gustav Isaksen, and Nuno Tavares have joined their teammates on the trip to Bologna.
In their first competitive match of the season, Gennaro Gattuso’s men were humbled by Mantova, who eliminated them from the Coppa Italia with a shocking 2-0 win at the Stadio Olimpico last weekend. This Monday, the Biancocelesti will be hoping for a better start to their Serie A campaign, and luckily for Gattuso, he should have more options at his disposal.
Bologna vs Lazio | Where to Watch, Insights, Lineups & Prediction
As reported by La Lazio Siamo Noi, three players have rejoined the squad after missing the cup tie with an injury, beginning with Romagnoli, who was out with muscle fatigue. The Italian defender’s condition was the least serious among the absentees, so his return is no surprise, even though his future will be decided in the final days of the summer transfer window.
The same can be said about Nuno Tavares, who is a serious target for Porto. The seemingly unhappy left-back missed the bulk of pre-season due to a knee problem, but is now ready to play. Finally, Gustav Isaksen has been on the sidelines since undergoing groin surgery in late June. However, the source insists that none of the three players has reached their peak physical condition.
Romagnoli and Isaksen both appeared in a short video posted on Lazio’s X (formerly Twitter) account, showing footage from the team’s flight from Rome to Emilia-Romagna on Sunday afternoon, thus confirming their return to the matchday squad. On the other hand, Tavares couldn’t be spotted in the montage, so his presence with the team remains in doubt.
In the meantime, Lazio remain without Danilo Cataldi, whose enduring a rough recovery path after his groin surgery, in addition to long-term absentees Patric and Samuel Gigot. Moreover, new signing Josip Sutalo hasn’t been added to the squad, as he only completed his transfer from Ajax on Saturday.
