Lazio sign Diogo Leite on a free after flying 2026-27 start | OneFootball

Lazio have confirmed the signing of Portuguese centre-back Diogo Leite on a free transfer, following their flying start to the 2026-27 Serie A campaign.

The club said in a statement that Leite joined after his Union Berlin contract expired on 30 June 2026. He has signed a two-year deal with an option to extend.

Leite becomes Lazio’s seventh first-team arrival of the season, after Davide Frattesi, Andrea Pinamonti, Josip Sutalo, Danilho Doekhi, Alfonso Pedraza and Bruno Galassi.

He is particularly familiar with Doekhi, the pair having spent the past four seasons together at Union Berlin. They have already played alongside each other in 108 competitive matches, including 94 in the Bundesliga, seven in the Europa League and seven in the DFB Pokal.

The defender arrives ahead of Saturday evening’s Serie A meeting with Milan at the Stadio Olimpico. As things stand, Lazio are one of three teams to win their first three league games, level at the summit with Roma and Inter.
