Lazio are exploring further cover up front, monitoring free agents Mauro Icardi and Joselu despite Andrea Pinamonti’s arrival.

“We’re evaluating the best plan with Mauro, a lifestyle plan, not a financial one. Mauro wants to choose a beautiful city and a strong club. Lazio is actively pursuing him, and it’s an option we’re considering.” He was speaking to Sky Sport Italia.

With Petar Ratkov reportedly bound for Levante and Boulaye Dia said to be close to Stade Rennais, a second centre-forward could still be required under Gennaro Gattuso.

Icardi, formerly of Inter and Paris Saint-Germain, has been unattached since leaving Galatasaray in June. There have been claims of a fresh approach in recent days, though no definitive response has arrived.

Others in Rome have suggested the pursuit is not serious.

Joselu has also been mentioned as a target, with Eintracht Frankfurt viewed as the most concrete option, while Lazio, Union Berlin and Spanish clubs have been credited with interest.

The 36-year-old is a well-travelled forward who has played for Deportivo, Newcastle and Espanyol. He spent 2023/24 at Real Madrid, helping win the Champions League, then lifted Euro 2024 with Spain. He most recently featured for Al-Gharafa in Qatar.
