Lazio have long-term plans for Oliver Provstgaard and Il Corriere dello Sport expects the club to offer him improved terms after his breakthrough season. The Danish defender has become an increasingly important option in Rome.
The Biancocelesti paid €4.5 million to sign the towering centre-back from Vejle BK in February 2025. He rarely featured under Marco Baroni while adapting to Italian football, then this term became Maurizio Sarri’s first choice off the bench behind Mario Gila and Alessio Romagnoli.
Provstgaard made 26 appearances across Serie A and the Coppa Italia. According to Transfermarket, his valuation has risen from €2.5 million at arrival to €7.5 million.
His current contract runs until June 2029 and is worth €500,000 net per year. Any revised terms would be expected to reflect his growing status.
Incoming coach Gennaro Gattuso is urging Romagnoli to stay, though the centre-back could join Al-Sadd or another foreign club this summer. If that happens, the left-footed Provstgaard would be viewed as the natural replacement at the back, having already shown he is a reliable defender.
