Corriere dello Sport reports that Lazio have set a €20m price for out-of-favour full-back Tavares as they seek a sale, after Porto and Beşiktaş interest stalled.
The defender is viewed as expendable and has not featured for a single minute of pre-season under Gennaro Gattuso.
A nagging knee issue remains, but his situation is seen as market driven rather than fitness related. Porto, under Francesco Farioli, made a mid-July approach that failed to convince the player, while Beşiktaş’s long courtship yielded nothing concrete.
The Süper Lig in Türkiye could yet re-emerge as an option for the Portuguese. Lazio’s valuation comes with a caveat, with around 40% of any fee due to Arsenal under a sell-on clause from when Lazio signed him from the Gunners.
For a club operating within tight finances, a sale would help fund the reinforcements Gattuso wants. Tavares began in Serie A with a burst of assists, but injuries and a difficult second season pushed him down the pecking order, and a summer exit now looks the likeliest outcome.
