Lazio are weighing a move for Standard Liege defender Ibe Hautekiet after bids for two earlier options fell through.

Il Corriere dello Sport reports the 24-year-old, at Standard since 2023, is keen on the switch, but agreement on the formula remains the main obstacle.

The Biancocelesti sold Mario Gila to AC Milan and Alessio Romagnoli’s future is unclear after bureaucratic issues stalled his Al-Sadd move. Danilho Doekhi has arrived on a free, yet another centre-back is still planned.

Lazio first targeted Sergio Dominguez, but talks with Dinamo Zagreb broke down over fee and structure. A deal with FC Nordsjælland for Noah Markmann was then in place, only for the player and his family to refuse.

Lazio’s proposal is a loan with an option that could become an obligation, allowing payments to be deferred to next summer amid a shaky financial picture. Standard prefer a permanent sale and hold Hautekiet under contract until June 2029.

A graduate of Zulte and Club Brugge, the right-footed centre-back has made 55 Belgian top-flight appearances, scoring two and adding one assist. His value is put at around £4 million.
