Lazio ‘turn down’ Sporting move for Oliver Provstgaard as Dane deemed untouchable | OneFootball

Lazio have rejected Sporting’s move for centre-back Oliver Provstgaard.

La Repubblica reports that the offer was swiftly declined and that the 23-year-old is considered untouchable.

Provstgaard joined the Biancocelesti from Vejle BK in February 2025 for €4.5 million. He featured sparingly under Marco Baroni, then grew in importance once Maurizio Sarri arrived last summer.

The Dane became the first defensive option off the bench behind Mario Gila and Alessio Romagnoli. With Gila off to AC Milan and Romagnoli expected to depart, he should step up as a regular starter, replacing Romagnoli on the left.

Lazio have added Dutch defender Danilho Doekhi on a free after the 28-year-old’s Union Berlin contract expired. With Patric and Samuel Gigot still hampered by physical issues, the club are expected to bring in another centre-back.

Sergi Dominguez remains the leading target, but an agreement with Dinamo Zagreb has yet to be found. Talks with FC Nordsjælland for 19-year-old Noah Markmann have reportedly progressed, and he could follow Provstgaard’s path at Formello.
