Lazio TV rights cut by €4 million amid attendance and table slide

Lazio’s Serie A TV rights income has fallen by €4 million compared to last season, with Calcio e Finanza reporting a €51.7 million share for 2025/26.

Half of the shortfall stems from lower attendances, which are factored into the distribution. The remainder is tied to league position, with Lazio seventh in 2024/25 and ninth this season on 54 points, two behind eighth-placed Bologna.

The campaign was bruising on and off the pitch, featuring a transfer ban, January sales, injuries, disputes over refereeing decisions, friction between president and head coach, and a stadium boycott from January that also hit matchday income.

A European place eluded them in both seasons. Lazio prioritised the Coppa Italia but lost the final 0-2 to Inter Milan, managed by Cristian Chivu. Victory would have secured Europa League qualification.

Restricted to a net-zero summer in the transfer market, the club is expected to sell further key players, notably Ivan Provedel, Alessio Romagnoli and Mario Gila. Bookmakers are not tipping the Biancocelesti to contest the top places next season. The TV cut is not the heaviest blow, with missing Europe the bigger financial setback, so the focus is likely to be on cost-efficient young signings and quick development.
