AS Gosier will face Lorient in the Coupe de France last 64 at Bondoufle rather than Le Moustoir, a dream occasion that may not deliver the expected payday. According to L'Équipe, the Paris-area choice pleases their diaspora but leaves the Guadeloupe club unhappy with the revenue share.
A rule change this season lets overseas teams stage ties in the Paris region from this round. After missing out on Bauer due to works, and with Charléty and Créteil unavailable, Gosier settled on Robert-Bobin, where the FFF is covering the full stadium rental, estimated at 5,000 to 10,000 euros. Organisation has been handed to FC Fleury 91.
President Arthur Nègre believes the takings split is inequitable. Fleury receives 35% to cover costs, then of the remaining 65% Fleury takes half, with Lorient allocated 30%, Le Gosier 10% and the FFF 10%.
Gosier’s annual budget is 80,000 to 90,000 euros, with 43,000 euros prize money due at this stage. Despite sponsors, donors and a 22,000 euros municipal subsidy, officials often top up domestic travel. For this exceptional mainland trip the FFF funded up to 100,000 euros, although six extra delegates beyond the 29 cap added 5,000 to 6,000 euros, and player gear cost 2,000 euros. The squad has been based at Clairefontaine since Tuesday.
Captain Dimitri Edouard, 40, described the week as a dream. Coach Steve Bizasène aims to make Lorient doubt, while Claudio Beauvue, 37, said they are not tourists, respect the Ligue 1 side and will go for it, hoping to keep the qualification dream alive. An upset would lift bonuses above previous rounds, which were 150 to 200 euros, and boost exposure, valuable for a well-run side leading their league. By Friday, 3,000 tickets had been sold, with 5,000 to 6,000 expected at Robert-Bobin.
