Le Mans are exploring a move for Augsburg striker Steve Mounié, 31, with talks under way and no bid lodged, according to L'Équipe.
The newly promoted side, still hunting several reinforcements including a left-footed and a right-footed centre-back, are weighing the option 10 days before their Ligue 1 opener against Brest.
Mounié has returned to Augsburg after a loan at Alanyaspor in Türkiye last season, where he made 25 appearances and scored nine. The Benin international remains under contract in Germany until 2027.
He has 162 Ligue 1 matches, with 44 goals and 12 assists for Montpellier from 2013 to 2017 and for Brest between 2020 and 2024. His profile could add experience to a squad still being built.
Separately, Le Mans have not submitted an offer for Red Star’s Dylan Durivaux.
