Boca’s stuttering form continued with a goalless draw against Platense at La Bombonera, and captain Leandro Paredes asked to come off late with an apparent ankle issue in Zone A’s matchday five of the Torneo Apertura.

He crouched, looked to the bench and went off for treatment near the end, with Milton Delgado coming on. In recent games he had been withdrawn midway through the second half, but this time he requested the change in the closing moments.

"I have been carrying a niggle, but it is part of the sport. I will be there when it is my turn to be there, sometimes it can be better or worse, but doing my best," he told ESPN.

Broadcast images showed Paredes trying to shield his discomfort from the cameras, though he was seen holding his right ankle. He had also displayed pain in the same area during the first half, yet played on for a few minutes.

After the draw, he left La Bombonera in flip-flops with ice strapped to his right ankle.

"It hurts to produce a match like this, and the two away performances we had. We have to improve and be self-critical. The group is fine, there is no option but to keep improving and think about what was done badly."

Claudio Úbeda’s side, beaten by Vélez, now face Racing on Friday in matchday six, then the Copa Argentina first round on Tuesday 24 February.
