Lecce have reportedly turned down a €7m offer from TSG Hoffenheim for right-back Valentin Gendrey, but negotiations are set to continue.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the proposal was received and rejected, because they consider him to be worth more than €7m.

Lecce paid just €300,000 to purchase him from Amiens in the summer of 2021 and his current contract runs to June 2026, although it does include an option to extend by another year.

Gendrey has flourished at Lecce

Gendrey has made 110 competitive appearances for the Salentini, scoring two goals and contributing eight assists.

The report suggests that the player, who turned 24 in June, is open to the transfer and has urged TSG Hoffenheim to consider making an improved bid.

He started both Lecce matches so far this season between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

The defender is another example of the remarkable scouting network put in place at Lecce.
