Lee Carsley has signed a new contract to keep him in charge of the England U21 side until 2027.

The 51-year-old returned to managing the U21s after overseeing the senior side's UEFA Nations League campaign between the departure of Gareth Southgate and the arrival of Thomas Tuchel.

He will now continue to lead the U21s ahead of the 2025 UEFA European Championship this summer with a contract that will run until the end of the 2027 competition.

Of course, Carsley led England to glory in the last tournament when England defeated Spain in the final of the 2023 edition.

"I’m delighted to extend my time with the FA," the former Everton player said about his new deal.

"It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to work with a young, talented group and help develop them on the international stage.

"While the future is exciting, our immediate priority is this summer’s UEFA U21 EURO in Slovakia as we attempt to emulate the achievement of Dave Sexton’s teams in 1982 and 1984."
