Lee Grant says he has every confidence that new striker Tai Sodje can be a success at Walsall after completing a move from National League North side Buxton.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, he has signed a two-year deal with an option of a further year. He scored 14 goals in all competitions for Buxton last season.
The 22-year-old spent a decade at Manchester City, and Grant believes his work rate, hunger for goals and skill set will complement Walsall’s attack. The head coach also expects Sodje’s direct play to lift supporters.
Sodje is the club’s seventh summer arrival and joins an attacking group that includes Aaron Pressley and Andrew Dallas.
The forward views the switch as a perfect fit, describing Walsall as a big club with ambitions to climb the pyramid. He said positive talks with Grant convinced him it was the right step for his development.
Walsall are preparing for an eighth successive season in League Two, having led the division at Christmas in each of the past two campaigns.
Sodje characterises himself as high energy, eager to press from the front and run in behind, with scoring his favourite part of the game. He is keen for the season to start, wants to help push for promotion and is looking forward to playing in front of the home support.
