Leeds United are moving to sign Gladbach defender Nico Elvedi, with Sebastiaan Bornauw considering a departure after one season in England.

Sky Germany reports that Elvedi and Leeds have a full agreement on a contract running until 2029, with an offer expected to be submitted and Gladbach ready to sell at the right price.

The Mail adds that Leeds weighed up a £7m move before the World Cup and now report a fee of £8.2m for the Switzerland international.

Bornauw is contemplating a return to Germany, and many supporters are questioning the prospect of him leaving Yorkshire.

Elvedi, in his peak years, can operate in a back four or a back three and is well known to Daniel Farke. He has made 364 appearances for Gladbach, 34 of them under Farke in 2022-23, with 17 in the Champions League.

He lacks Premier League experience yet has stood out in German football for some time, and at this price it looks a bargain. He is coming in to replace Bornauw, and if he were to start for Leeds it would be in place of Jaka Bijol.
