Leeds' Gelhardt ‘to be targeted’ by Wrexham in £4.5m deal | OneFootball

Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt has emerged as a summer target for Wrexham. Daily Mail reports that the Welsh club want to sign the 24-year-old in a £4.5m deal to aid their promotion push.

Gelhardt spent the past 18 months at Hull City, joining on a six-month loan in January 2025 before returning for last season. He scored 15 goals as the Tigers won promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs.

A permanent Hull move has yet to happen and Gelhardt was left out of Daniel Farke’s pre-season tour of America. Leeds opened that trip with a 3-2 defeat to Wrexham.

Birmingham City are also keen, while Hull have indicated they could revisit a deal if other targets are missed. Leeds wanted between £3m and £4m a year ago and his 15-goal campaign could push that figure higher.

With Hull exploring other attacking options, an opening could arise for Gelhardt to return to the Championship. He is in the final year of his Leeds contract and a permanent exit is expected to be sanctioned.

After Saturday’s 2-0 friendly win over RB Leipzig, Farke suggested senior departures would likely be limited, although he did not rule anything out or single out fringe players such as Gelhardt.
