According to Mohamed Toubache Premier League side Leeds United have arrived late to the table over a move for Marseille striker Bamba Dieng (22), with Marseille preparing to walk away from a deal with Lorient for the striker if they do not sign Les Merlus striker Terem Moffi (23). Everton, as reported earlier, are also showing late interest in the player.
However, Toubache reports that Dieng and his agent still hold a clear position on a move, which is a preference for Lorient because of the club’s project and game-time guarantees that he would have in Ligue 1.
Marseille are hoping to include the Senegalese striker in a potential deal to ease the arrival of Lorient’s top scorer Terem Moffi to the club. Dieng has already agreed personal terms with Les Merlus and has also reportedly flown to Lorient in order to undergo a medical.
Moffi, as we reported earlier today, has no intention to sign for OM, even following an agreement reached with the Olympians over a move among multiple bids from OGC Nice as well as West Ham United.
Dieng had already turned down a deadline day move to Leeds in the summer, as he expressed his desire to stay in France. He almost left Marseille but failed a medical in the last hours of deadline day at OGC Nice, relegating him to staying at Marseille until the winter transfer window.
