Leeds United cool interest in Oumar Solet amid knee concerns | OneFootball

Leeds United have cooled their pursuit of Oumar Solet, with concerns over the defender’s knee history driving the decision.

Tuttomercatoweb reports that Inter Milan and Como have also stepped away, and that Napoli are the only club to have lodged an official enquiry, though it is unclear if they remain in the running.

Solet tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the 2019/20 season, then suffered a meniscus tear the following campaign. The 26-year-old has continued to encounter knee issues, which has led Leeds to pause interest.

Despite this, Udinese are still seeking €15m and have no intention of sanctioning a cut-price sale, even though they need to shift some of the eight defenders on their wage bill.

Elsewhere, Leeds remain in talks for James Trafford and are awaiting Julian Brandt’s next steps. Discussions with the free agent’s camp continue, centring on role and long term fit as well as wages.

"There's no doubt we need to improve the squad. The one thing that's different from last season is that the bar has been raised." He told Sky Sports in June.

"Are we pursuing inbounds? Yes. We'll also have to manage some outs."
