Leeds United expect a quiet deadline day, with no further additions currently anticipated. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, they will stay open to late options, but a second January signing is unlikely.

Facundo Buonanotte has joined on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion after cutting short his season with Chelsea, becoming only the second January signing of Daniel Farke’s tenure. He debuted in Saturday’s 4-0 loss to Arsenal at Elland Road.

A centre forward had been pursued, but that target has undergone a medical at Crystal Palace and looks set for a permanent move from Wolves. Leeds’ offer structured to avoid Profitability and Sustainability trouble did not meet Wolves’ valuation.

The chances of another striker were considered unlikely without Strand Larsen. A centre-back was never on the cards despite links to Union Berlin’s Danilho Doekhi, and enquiries for Romano Schmid ended after Buonanotte arrived.

Outgoings saw Jack Harrison loaned to Fiorentina and Harry Gray sent to League One Rotherham United. Leeds rejected Beşiktaş’s approach for Lucas Perri and shut down interest in Sebastiaan Bornauw.

Talk around Joel Piroe persisted, but 49ers Enterprises laughed off Celtic’s enquiry and a Rangers move was never likely. Piroe wants to stay and fight for Premier League minutes, and only a new striker would have changed that.

Farke says the board know his views, while he prioritises squad cohesion at Thorp Arch. He remains open to depth at full-back and up top, but with hours left he seems content to stick with what he has.
