Leeds United are standing firm that Wilfried Gnonto will not be allowed to leave until a replacement winger is secured, according to Leeds Live.

There is belief in Florence that the forward is travelling for a medical ahead of a loan, but any exit hinges on Leeds first sealing a replacement.

Leeds remain at the table for Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk, who has indicated a desire to move to Elland Road. Chelsea prefer other options, seemingly Strasbourg, their BlueCo sister club.

Mudryk is not thought to favour the French option. Leeds’ hopes are limited, yet talks have continued and the situation remains active.

The arrival of Mudryk, or another left winger, would open the door for Gnonto. Fiorentina first explored a permanent deal earlier in the window before withdrawing, then revived interest with a loan including an option to buy.

More minutes with Fiorentina could appeal to the 22-year-old, but Leeds retain control of any decision.

Gnonto has not featured in United’s three competitive matches this season, returning to the bench at Brentford on Sunday after a hamstring injury.

He started four Premier League games last term and seven in total across 29 outings, including three in the cups. He has made 147 appearances for Leeds, scoring 23 with 17 assists, and has two years left on his deal.
