Leeds United’s first home match of 2026/27, against Brentford, has been moved to 2pm on Sunday 30 August, the final day of Leeds Festival.

West Yorkshire Police said it is highly experienced at policing major events and has plans for a busy Bank Holiday, which also features the Leeds West Indian Carnival. The force said it works with Leeds United, Festival Republic, Leeds City Council and others, and that each event has its own security arrangements with an appropriate policing operation in support.

The fixtures were confirmed last month, then TV selection prompted changes to Leeds’ first two Elland Road dates against Brentford and Newcastle United.

Brentford’s visit, Leeds’ second game of the season, had been due on Saturday 29 August. It will now take place while the festival runs at Bramham Park from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 August.

The Brentford match is one of three simultaneous Premier League broadcasts on Sky Sports, alongside Chelsea v Brighton and Sunderland v Fulham.

Newcastle’s trip is now set for 8pm on Monday 14 September, although the date and time could still change.

Significant traffic delays are expected on the A1(M) and A64 as thousands travel to and from Bramham Park across the Bank Holiday weekend.
