Spanish outlet Fichajes has reported that Aston Villa sit among the Premier League clubs showing strong interest in Sevilla winger Ruben Vargas, a Swiss international who has caught attention through his recent performances.
Leeds United, locked in a tough battle to stay in the Premier League, reportedly plan to test Sevilla’s resolve with a bid close to €20 million for the 27-year-old; however, they face stiff competition from several top-flight rivals.
Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are also watching the situation closely, setting up what could become a four-club tussle for his signature once the transfer window opens.
Vargas brings flair and unpredictability in the final third, qualities that appeal to teams looking to strengthen their attack, and landing him at that price would feel like smart business.
He appears to be in the best phase of his career, which makes this a natural moment to consider a move to the Premier League. Such a step would test him at a higher level while giving him a real chance to establish himself as an important player at a leading club.
Villa’s manager needs stronger options out wide. A lack of faith in some current choices shows through, with Jadon Sancho’s loan spell failing to make the hoped-for impact and Harvey Elliott still struggling to secure regular minutes.

Because of that, Villa need more depth and reliability in wide attacking roles, something Vargas looks well suited to offer thanks to his flexibility. Newcastle United, meanwhile, continue to build with Champions League football in mind and want better balance across their squad, particularly out wide, where they lean heavily on Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon.
Tottenham are tracking Vargas for similar reasons, as their wide threat depends too much on Mohammed Kudus, leaving a clear need for another top-level winger.
Aston Villa could make strong use of a player like Vargas. Their wide areas lack consistency and security, which makes it hard to sustain a push for European places. Vargas would give the manager a dependable option who can contribute goals and assists, while adding real competition and quality to the attacking line.
