Leeds United have been handed a potential opening on Rafael Leao, with his club open to a sale, as Daniel Farke eyes further additions before the window closes. The head coach has accepted there are obvious gaps in his squad.
According to Leeds Live, the AC Milan winger has been offered to Leeds, alongside Manchester United and Arsenal, and he has acknowledged he wants a fresh challenge away from San Siro. The Whites have kept Leao on their radar through the summer.
Farke has said he will not publicly specify positions, to avoid inflating prices, but he is hopeful of more business. He also noted specialist cover was light in parts of his recent line-up.
A move for Nico Elvedi had appeared to be progressing, and on Saturday a deal with Borussia Monchengladbach was reached. Igor Paixao and Zian Flemming continue to be linked, with Flemming potentially costing about £17m.
In the opposite direction, an agreement for Joe Gelhardt to join Hull City was announced over the weekend. West Ham United have made sporadic contact over a £16m move for Joel Piroe, though Elland Road sources say talk of advanced discussions is inaccurate.
Piroe featured for only 15 minutes across Leeds’ last four friendlies. His agent, Theo Roebbers, said that if no exit resolution is found this summer, Leeds “need never call me again”, he told The Athletic.
Three Leeds transfers are set to be confirmed. Lucas Perri is closing in on a loan to Torino, with the move paused during his quad injury to smooth the medical process, and after the Augsburg friendly Farke expected movement on Elvedi and Bornauw within 48 hours.
