Leeds United are working on a late deadline day move for Eintracht Frankfurt’s France under-21 winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya as they seek an attacker before the 11pm cut-off.

Bahoya, 21, has been capped five times at under-21 level and looked set to join Hull City at the weekend before the move collapsed, with the player reportedly opting against the Tigers.

Adding another forward would pave the way for Willy Gnonto to join Fiorentina. Leeds allowed Gnonto to fly to Italy on Monday but have been clear he would only depart if a replacement arrives.

Primarily a left winger, Bahoya has made 78 appearances for Bundesliga side Frankfurt since arriving from Angers in January 2024, scoring seven and assisting eight. Sunderland have also been credited with interest.

Meanwhile Leeds are expected to unveil versatile French left back Melvin Bard as their sixth summer signing on a season-long loan from Nice with an option to buy. Leeds will pay a €1m loan fee and hold a €5m purchase option next summer, and the 25-year-old’s 193 outings for Nice include seven goals and six assists, with his arrival adding competition for Gabriel Gudmundsson and cover in defence and out wide.
