Leeds United are pushing to finalise a late move for Eintracht Frankfurt winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya, the holder of the Bundesliga sprint speed record.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the 21-year-old could join on an initial loan with an obligation to buy worth €30million (£25.7m) if the clubs complete the paperwork tonight. He is viewed as a raw but exciting prospect, renowned for blistering pace.

In a 3-1 win at Bochum in March 2025, he hit 23.09mph, the fastest sprint speed in Bundesliga history. He was 19 at the time.

For context, Usain Bolt’s average speed in his 2009 100m world record was 23.35mph. Bahoya’s 23.09mph equates to just over 37km/h, a mark matched only by three Premier League players, Micky Van de Ven, Kyle Walker and Jackson Tchatchoua.

Bahoya also scored Frankfurt’s second goal that day, after former Leeds man Rasmus Kristensen had opened the scoring.

Leeds are aiming to get the deal over the line before the 11pm deadline. Clubs can file a deal sheet to secure a two-hour grace period after 11pm, once all parties have signed and submitted it to the Premier League to confirm an agreement.

At that point, they are given another two hours to complete the finer details. Deal sheets cannot be submitted before 9pm on deadline day, and 1am is the latest for finishing the paperwork.
