Leeds United winger Noah Okafor has been left out of Switzerland’s friendly against Jordan today, the 26-year-old still managing a calf issue ahead of the World Cup.

The federation announced on Saturday that Okafor would not feature in the 1.30pm kick-off, while head coach Murat Yakin is not worried about the player’s longer-term availability.

Gregor Kobel is being rested after flu, Yvon Mvogo starts and there is a plan for third-choice Marvin Keller to come on at half-time for a debut. Midfielder Fabian Rieder also misses out after an ankle problem in training on Wednesday.

Okafor earned a recall for March’s internationals after strong club form, though he was an unused substitute in the 4-3 defeat to Germany and then omitted from the squad for the goalless draw in Norway.

He finished the domestic season brightly before a calf injury sidelined him for United’s final three Premier League matches.

Despite that setback, he has been named in Yakin’s squad for this summer’s World Cup, and Switzerland also have a warm-up against Austria in the next week.
