Leicester City’s summer reset may get a lift from Enzo Maresca’s return to Manchester City, with early business hinting at closer ties.

According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, academy forward Jeremy Monga has joined Man City for £10m, rising to £12.5m, in a move confirmed on Saturday that could fund reinvestment.

Maresca steered Leicester to the 2023/24 Championship title and promotion, then left for Chelsea the next summer. Successors Steve Cooper and Ruud van Nistelrooy could not halt relegation, and another drop last season means League One in 2026/27.

Monga had seemed set for Arsenal earlier in the window, with reports suggesting their final bid was £6.5m. Maresca was said to have driven Man City’s interest from prior knowledge, and City’s higher offer secured a bigger fee.

The clubs already enjoy a positive relationship, reflected by Divine Mukasa’s loan in the second half of last season. Maresca has spoken warmly of Leicester and his arrival, plus the Monga deal, may strengthen mutual trust.

That link could aid Leicester’s League One loan plans, with young Man City talent in mind. Defender Max Alleyne has been tentatively mentioned, while Jayden and Reigan Heskey are further forward options, Jayden having spent the spring at Sheffield Wednesday. New boss Russell Martin’s possession game should appeal to Man City, and Pep Guardiola has previously praised his approach.
