Domestic football resumes after a long international break and Leicester City, 14th with two wins in seven, need a lift in their League One promotion push.
According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, Russell Martin is integrating 16 signings after relegation. City remain favourites despite trailing Plymouth Argyle by seven points, with the leaders having played two more, and Peterborough United on Saturday starts four games against the current bottom six.
Winner, Louis Page. Omitted at Notts County, he seized a start at Ipswich after owner Khun Top rejected Manchester United’s deadline-day bid. The 18-year-old has excelled across midfield and was outstanding at Stockport County with three assists.
Winners, Will Alves and Jayden Joseph. Alves has one goal and one assist, is third for successful dribbles per 90 with Harry Howell top, and third for average rating behind Sammy Braybrooke and Page. Joseph has a new deal, leads tackles per 90, is third for accurate passes per 90, scored at Notts County and is keeping Bade Aluko out.
Losers, Caleb Okoli, Wes Burns and Conor Chaplin. Okoli, once an Italy call-up, is behind Harry Souttar, Warren O’Hora and summer signing Ilari Kangasniemi, with his ball-playing a concern. Burns has not cemented the right wing, though his 2022/23 return was eight goals and 11 assists, while Chaplin’s injuries have limited him to 36 league minutes.
Winner, Emil Riis. The signing from Bristol City hit two at Stockport. City need him in double figures and Martin will pin plenty of hope on the Dane.
