RC Lens are looking to strengthen their depth at the left-back position this summer. On Friday, L’Équipe reported that Matthieu Udol (29) and Christ Tapé (19) are targets for the Northern French side.
Udol has spent most of his career at FC Metz, who were promoted back into Ligue 1 earlier this month. Tapé, meanwhile, spent last season in the second tier of the Danish League with AC Horsens.
The Metz skipper last season came up big when it mattered, scoring a brace in their second-leg playoff tie versus Stade de Reims to earn his side a promotion into Ligue 1.
Udol was named to the Ligue 2 Team of the Year in 2024-25. Tapé, on the other han,d made 16 league appearances in Denmark last season and failed to find the back of the net. The Metz defender is under contract with Les Grenats until June 2027. As for Tapé, his contract expires in 2028.
Lens and Horsens are reportedly negotiating a fee of around €3m for the Ivory Coast youngster who may serve as a long-term solution for Deiver Machado (31), whose contract with the Ligue 1 club expires in June 2026.
Earlier this month, Lens named Pierre Sage as their manager, signing the former Olympique Lyonnais boss to a three-year contract. He replaced Will Still, who left after just one season in charge to become the new manager of Championship side Southampton.
